The Brazilian Military adopted the model F 75 to become the F 85 nicknamed the “chacorro louco” = crazy dog. It came as pick up with canvas top and rear benches or as ambulance with a closed cab. Some had winches, most didn’t. The markings are original Military, since the Antique Car Club has an agreement with the Military to allow the use of the old and no longer used Military crest “Southern Cross” to be used on historic Military Vehicles.

Ulrich has put over 4000 miles on this vehicle since he has owned it.

Ferret in Ohio

Member Ian Wallace (#20862) has sent a pic of his 1960 British Diamler "Ferret" Armored Scout Car. This is my second Mule. I have been busy fixing oil leaks, cleaning, scrubbing, de greasing.changing out seals, and changing fluids and ordering parts. It just looks like it was never maintained very well. It came pretty much stripped. I have it running like a champ and drives real well. It's 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steering. I have built some ammo boxes that hold my tie down straps and assorted gear. When I have it on display I set up a 2 man pup tent, a few boxes of C-rations, Vietnam era compass. I also have a PRC-77 field radio with all of the goodies and it works great! Along with the display I have a 3' X 5' Amercing flag and a POW flag I fly as well. I have been slowly collecting Vietnam era items for display with my mule. Mounted on the deck is the correct machine gun mount an m-23 cradle and it has a a replica .50 cal Browning HB2 machine Gun with a clip of 50 rounds, all dummy of course that did not come with the mule.

It weighs @ 900 pounds and can carry 1,000 pounds of gear. Top speed is @ 25 mph. It has Hi and Low range like a jeep 3 forward speeds and reverse. They use to be pull start like a old lawn mower, mine is electric start. It's all wheel drive. They state if 3 tires are blown out it will still will be Mobile. The steering wheel will lower to a forward position so you can walk the mule in reverse still steer and knock down small trees and hi brush basically it will make a trail for you. It was also equipped with a array of weapons one was a 106 recoil less rifle. Mine has a .50cal mounted.

After I get all of the bugs worked out I plan to strip the mule, sand blast down to the metal and do a complete repaint, I want this to be a top notch display vehicle when I get done. This was the only combat proven ATV

I have been entering it in parades. I had it in this years Christmas parade, as I drove past the local V.F.W. I got a standing ovation from the Vets, it made me feel real proud. We have a Antique Steam Tractor and Steam engine museum here local and it was a big hit. I even had a few Vietnam Vet's who remember these vehicles and they wanted to sit in the drivers seat and have there pictures taken I was more than happy to do that for them.

On the Autobahn

MVPA member Martin Isetts provided this pic from his friend Ralph Lowe.
